The History of CTRL + ALT + DELETE. By Virginia Hughes. In 2013, Bill Gates admitted ctrl+alt+del was a mistake and blamed IBM. Here's the story of how the key combination became. Control Alt Delete LLC is a federally designated 501 (c)3 nonprofit located in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area. Our primary focus is removing the barriers that prevent domestic violence victims from fleeing abusive relationships. In a personal computer with the Windows operating system, Ctrl-Alt-Delete is the combination of keyboard keys that the computer user can press at the same time to terminate an application task or to reboot the operating system (have it shut down and restart itself). Control-Alt-Delete is a computer keyboard keystroke combination (Control, Alt and Delete) that was conceived by David Bradley, a designer of the original IBM personal computer. It is a command for IBM PC-compatible systems that can be used to restart the computer.
